Description: This role is responsible fulfilling our PR, outreach, and writing needs. We’re looking for a real firebrand / muckracker with a burning desire to blow this important issue wide open as we move into the next phase of our development. Key expectations:
# Raise caliber of current web copy (product, site articles, etc.) / align with our top tier thought leadership

# Get the truth out on what really reduces consumption and what does not (e.g. bans vs. tax)
Key responsibilities include:
# Create outstanding content for site & outreach efforts (e.g. site articles, press releases, newsletters, blog posts, etc.)
# Help create & manage consistent "sound bite / talk point" system for company
# Manage (draft, refine, and execute) strategic communication plans around our story / mission
Website
# Help build "mini" sites / info portals (e.g. plastax.com, reusablebottles.com, ecolunches.com, etc.)
# Create relevant issues-based site articles & FAQs
# Improve product copy
# Help set up and be responsible for managing our site forum and wikis
PR / Media
# Initiate proactive media exposure
# Build relationships with key editors, communications leaders, etc.
# Work with PR Firm - manage day-to-day contact, field media inquiries, etc.
# Create media / PR database and implement basic procedures for key operations
# Help create & responsible for maintaining online press kits & materials
# Set up & maintain system to monitor blogs, traditional media forms, etc. e.g. Google newsfeeds
Blogs
# Proactive & reactive with external blogs by spreading message & promoting / defending reputation
# Lead our blogs - site "Newsroom", create new blogs
Other outreach
# Inspire and manage street teams & customer evangelists
# Manage & leverage relationship with 1% For The Planet partners & handful of other like minded orgs
# Produce basic podcasts focused on interviewing founder & other issues leaders
# Help develop, implement & raise awareness for contests (e.g. PBB video slogan, design a better bag, etc.)
# Setup & maintain profiles / execute tactics to leverage social networking sites
Be at the front of and help propel a paradigm shift, while gaining tremendous and valuable experience.
Education and other requirements:
# Journalism (strongly preferred), English or related degree from highly reputable institution
# 5-7 years experience in journalism / political campaign / issues advocacy

We have an entrepreneurial work environment with a lot of autonomy. While a casual environment, work is fast paced and outstanding results are expected. This position is a 40-50+ hour work week. Approximate office hours: M-F, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.
